NYC Chinese New Year Parade

NYC Chinese New Year Parade | thenotepasser.com

After writing my last post, I got a little nostalgic about the almost five years I lived in China and decided to go to the Chinese New Year parade on Sunday. Unbelievably, this was my first year to attend since moving from Nanjing to New York four years ago! Nathan, our friend Jes, and I went down to Chinatown to watch and get covered in confetti. It felt nice to be immersed in Chinese culture again.

Enamored with the glitter of the event, Jes got her hands on some confetti poppers and she and Nathan set them off to the delight of the crowd around them. For a few hours, Chinatown was blanketed in brightly colored confetti , turning streets and even garbage into eye candy.

Spring Festival is a long holiday, covering fifteen days, that culminates in Lantern Festival. This year, Lantern Festival coincides with Valentine's Day.
