Shopping is a pleasurable experience as it is, but I'm finding that when I'm also shopping for good, it's downright euphoric. My husband and I need glasses and, as burgeoning ethical consumers, we wanted to choose an ethical company. Enter Warby Parker:
Warby Parker was conceived as an alternative to the overpriced and bland eyewear available today. Prescription eyewear simply should not cost $300+. The industry is controlled by a few large companies that have kept prices artificially high, reaping huge profits from consumers who have no other options. By circumventing traditional channels and engaging with customers directly through our website, Warby Parker is able to provide higher-quality, better-looking prescription eyewear at a fraction of the price.
Not only do they do right by their customers, they do right by their communities and the world. So off we went to one of their NYC locations to choose our glasses. My friends, Gloria and Christina, were kind enough to join us and give us their invaluable opinions.
Warby Parker is a B Corporation and works with non-profit, Vision Spring. Together, they organize innovative programs that help communities and entrepreneurs in areas where it's difficult to get prescription glasses.
If you are in the market for glasses, please consider Warby Parker as an option. Their glasses are super stylish and if you don't live where they have a brick and mortar store, they will send you up to five pairs in the mail to try on at home. For free! Nothing to lose and people to help.
